Part 2 - Who am I becoming?
This message invites us into a profound shift in perspective: our purpose isn't found in what we accomplish, but in who we are becoming. Drawing from Psalm 1:3, we're reminded that a blessed life is like a tree planted by streams of water—its value isn't in the fruit it displays, but in the roots it develops underground. These roots dig deep into the soil, seeking out the life-giving water that sustains everything above ground. In the same way, our spiritual health depends not on our visible achievements, but on our hidden connection to God. The sermon challenges us to stop measuring our worth by our accomplishments and instead invest in the unseen work of becoming rooted in God's Word, prayer, and worship. Jesus' teaching in Matthew 12 reinforces this truth: good fruit only comes from a good tree, and a good tree is one whose roots are drawing from the right source. The Pharisees had impressive religious accomplishments, yet Jesus called them evil because their hearts—their roots—were corrupt. What matters most isn't how our lives look on the surface, but what we're drawing from in the depths. This is an invitation to prioritize intimacy with God over productivity for God, trusting that the fruit will naturally follow when our roots are healthy.
