Desert Lesson 5: Guidance Is Step - Stretch - Leap
What does it truly mean to follow God's leading when the path ahead is invisible? This message takes us deep into the reality of faith as a living, dynamic journey rather than a formula or checklist. Drawing on the image of Israel following the cloud through the wilderness, we are invited to consider that God is fundamentally unpredictable -- not in His character, which remains consistently kind, wise, and compassionate -- but in His methods. He will surprise us. He will lead us places we never planned to go. The message unpacks three distinct levels of faith that most of us will encounter: the daily step, where we simply put one foot in front of the other trusting God with ordinary decisions; the stretch, where God increases the weight on the bar and calls us to believe and ask for more than we are comfortable with; and the leap, where everything we have goes to the center of the table and there is no safety net but God Himself. Rooted in the imagery of Psalms 119, where a lamp gives just enough light for the next step, we are reminded that God rarely illuminates the entire road ahead. He gives us enough light to move, and then enough again. This is not a message about having all the answers. It is an invitation to trust the One who does.
